Chiropractic
Chiropractic is one of the largest primary-contact healthcare professions in Ontario; it is a non-invasive, hands-on (Chiropractic is from the Greek “treatment by hand”) healthcare discipline that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system (nerves, muscles, joints).
Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy is the manipulation of soft tissue; soft tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system.
Reflexology
Reflexology has been practised in many cultures throughout the world dating as far back as 2,500 B.C.. It originated in ancient Egypt with medical practitioners treating their patients through a focused pressure technique applied to the hands/feet.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a Chinese therapy dating back thousands of years. The basic premise lies in maintaining the free flow of “Qi” throughout the body. Qi is the body’s “vital energy” that flows through the meridians or channels.
Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology is a system of diagnosing and treating structural, chemical, and mental imbalances in the body using manual muscle testing. It was first developed by a Chiropractor, Dr. George Goodheart Jr., in 1964, and has continued to develop since that time.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy, or "photobiomodulation", is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near infrared) to create a therapeutic effect. These effects include: improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, and decreased swelling.
Graston® Technique
Graston® Technique is an instrument-assisted soft tissue technique designed to break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions in the body. Specially designed stainless steel tools are used to detect and remove areas of soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation in order to reduce overall treatment times.
Kinesio® Taping
The Kinesio® Taping (KT) method was developed by a Chiropractor, Dr. Kenzo Kase, in Japan over 30 years ago. It is a unique taping technique that utilizes a flexible, elastic tape to support joints and muscles. Unlike traditional athletic takpe, Kinesio® Tape does NOT restrict motion or compromise circulation.
Custom Foot Orthotics
Orthotics are biomechanical appliances custom made for your specific foot imbalance(s). They fit inside your shoe as a comfortable insole and are designed to properly align your feet, thereby reducing strain on the remainder of your body.
Thermography
Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging (or Thermography) is a non-invasive test that uses an infrared camera to detect and measure abnormal thermal changes in the body. In general, problem areas show high tissue temperatures due to increased blood flow and increased metabolic activity.
Compression Hosiery
Medical gradient compression hosiery are designed to improve venous and lymphatic flow in the lower extremity. Application of external compression, such as that provided by compression hosiery, compresses the diameter of veins and:
- increases blood velocity;
- aids incompetent valve cusps to meet (i.e. close properly); and
- reduces edema.
